#RhinoRide2018 smashes records & raisesONE MILLION RAND

WE did it…..together with all of you, we made our million!
To be precise the #RhinoRide2018 raised R1 062 592 for Rhino Conservation
This year was marked as the year to ‘up our game’, and that we did! By spending more funds and time on the infrastructure, the incredible catering, waxing the route and ensuring a better overall experience for our cyclists certainly paid off!
It is thanks to our incredible team, amazing sponsorships and innovative ideas which enabled us to deliver an exceptional Ride this year and raise a million

Without you, it wouldn’t be possible…

It goes without saying that the Rhino Ride would not be the success it is without the continued support of our Sponsors and cyclists alike. Every year, we are blown away by the support we receive, we are hugely grateful to each and every one of you who helped us reach our goal this year.

A few special thanks must go out. Grindrod Bank, who has been with us since inception, show us the most unbelievable support. This year through their donation of funds, goodie bag items & conservation levies, over R250 000 was donated by Grindrod Bank alone. The support which we receive leading up to, over the event, and when the dust settles is incredible, and without them, we could not achieve what we do, thank-you.

Supatrade once again kept our cyclists well-fed on route with the infamous bacon and egg rolls, we know the climb was well worth the breakfast! Thank you Supatrade for your generosity, time and support not only with breakfast but also with bar stock and background maintenance. Always a pleasure working alongside you.

This year we also welcomed two new exciting sponsors. IPSS Medical Rescue, joined us this year with full sponsorship of paramedics & vehicles to keep you all safe over the ups and downs of the weekend. Thank-you to Janus, Jordace, Shaun and Claudia for doing a superb job.

Bruce and his fantastic team from Rocket Catering managed to put on the most incredible spread all the while using limited resources, Thank-you Bruce, we look forward to welcoming you back next year.

Although we cannot mention each sponsor personally, we are truly grateful for each and every ounce of support that we generously receive. Each cent that we are able to save is a cent that we can raise and put towards our Rhino Conservation efforts, so THANK-YOU!

What did we do with the 2017 Funds?

Funds raised from the 2017 Rhino Ride have all gone directly back into our rhino conservation projects. We have equipped Manyoni’s faithful Rhino Monitors Stoni & Mfundise with 2 new off-road quad bikes. The monitors spend around 8 hours a day tracking and monitoring the rhinos daily and so good reliable transport is a must to keep both them and the rhinos safe. The Rhino Ride also enabled us to donate R700 000 towards security systems and guards for the Black Rhino population within Manyoni & the surrounds

Accumulative Auction Raises R133 310 for our Orphans & R42 300 for the Project Rhino K9 Unit

The Project Rhino K9 unit based in Hluhluwe services the Zululand region with the response to poaching incidents. These dogs are highly intelligent and once on the scent of a poacher can track for many kilometres. The K9 unit is proving to be an invaluable service for the regions anti-poaching efforts.

The funds raised from the accumulative auction will be used to train the handlers and their dogs, as well as feed and maintain the K9 unit, thanks must also go out to Grindrod Bank who together with Absolute Pets donated R10 000 worth of dog food for the unit.

Our Orphanage is growing fast & with that, we need to expand! Currently, we have 8 orphans in our care (this time last year we had 5), this includes Charlie and Moomin the beloved hippos!
Money raised from this auction will be put towards expansion costs and our new state of the art security system that we have implemented.

We are proud to welcome Pittrack to our team who assist us with armed guards who live on the premises, ensuring our team and orphans are kept safe and secure, under 24-hour surveillance.

APU TEAM ARE KITTED OUT!

For everyone who donated active gear towards our anti-poaching team – a huge thank you! The new spunky colourful gear has really encouraged the guys to up their fitness and we’ve seen a noticeable increase in their running and gyming, long may it last!
