On behalf of the Zululand RHINO Reserve Foundation (now the Zululand Conservation Trust) we would like to thank you all, sponsors, cyclists, supporters & volunteers alike, for what was yet again a wonderful fun filled mountain biking weekend on the Zululand Rhino Reserve.
We were thrilled to have a full complement of riders at this year’s event – 215 cyclists arriving to brave the Zululand heat, the hills of the reserve and not to mention our ever growing pride of lions! (what started with the introduction of 7 Lion in 2012, has rapidly grown to 15, and counting) It is through your support that our conservation initiatives such as this succeed.
The 2014 Rhino Ride raised an incredible R333,000.
These funds will go a long way to assist us in the ongoing battle against Rhino poaching and to assist us in ensuring the safety and security of our precious Rhino on the ZRR(now MPGR) – a HUGE thank you to each & every one of you who contributed to make this possible.
A very big thank you must go out to all sponsors that came on board at this years Rhino Ride, without whom the event would not be possible. A special thank-you to Grindrod Bank our anchor sponsor for the 3rd year running, and it was great to hear on the Friday night that Grindrod Bank have recommitted their support of the event again in 2015. Further thanks go to Spar Mkuze Supatrade, Bayete Zulu, Polaris, Emma Gatland Photography, Republic South Africa (RSA), Fairfield Dairy, Mavela & Static Control, Racefood, Leopard Mountain Game Lodge, LT Printers, Sheena Arnott, African Spirit Game Lodge & Republic Umbrella.
It has been incredibly rewarding to receive so many positive emails from riders all expressing their enjoyment of the event. As a result it is our intention to maintain the current profile of the event. Of course there are always aspects to be improved upon and the RHINO RIDE team will be focusing on these – we will however be maintaining the focus of a tour not a race, keeping it a family event and utilising similar routes. If however anyone has suggestions of ways to improve the appeal of the event please feel free to contact us.
