Nestled in the rich landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal, the Zululand Conservation Trust (ZCT) plays a vital role in preserving South Africa’s natural heritage and promoting sustainable coexistence between humans and wildlife. ZCT is committed to the conservation of endangered species, environmental education, and community upliftment.
At the heart of this mission is the Zululand Conservation Trust Volunteer Program, an initiative that invites volunteers from across the globe to immerse themselves in meaningful conservation work. Participants contribute hands-on support to various conservation projects, including wildlife monitoring, helping at the Zululand Rhino Orphanage, and community engagement activities that bring real impact to the local area. This experience not only enhances the efforts of ZCT but also offers volunteers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn about conservation challenges, biodiversity, and Zulu culture.

A Home for Conservation Heroes
Volunteers live in a dedicated Volunteer Camp within the heart of Zululand. This camp provides an eco-friendly, comfortable base for volunteers, where they can recharge, learn, and connect with like-minded individuals. Life in the camp emphasizes sustainability, with minimal environmental impact, ensuring that the work we do reflects our conservation values. Here, participants join forces to contribute to our mission while forming bonds that often last a lifetime.

All of this would not be possible without the incredible support of our partners. We are especially grateful to Toyota SA and the SMG dealership network for their generous sponsorship of the camp set-up. If you need help planning your trip, reach out the the Expedition Project, our trustworthy travel support partner that will assist with flights, insurances, pre-departure planning, road trips around South Africa and much more!
